🎁A Gift + Ritual for 2025

2025!!?? It's hard to believe isn't it Reader?

Every year I complete an annual year-end ritual & just did mine for 2024.

There was such a great response to it last year that I'm sharing that ritual again with you this year...

...but before I do, I want to support you by naming some ways we use self-reflection & adjusting them so that reflection becomes helpful, not harmful to you.

COMPARISON:
As we wrap up 2024, you may have fallen into the comparison trap, focusing on where you’re not yet.

This natural negative bias creates an equally natural response of never feeling "enough" + always wanting more.

Why? Because there IS always someone else who "has more" than you have or has "gotten further" than you did.

Using Comparison-type thinking to self-reflect builds a barrier to nurturing + appreciating yourself.

COMPARING-DOWN:
So when comparing-UP sneaks in, remind yourself to compare-DOWN too.

That is - remember those people who have less than you do.

Remember those who have been unable to achieve as much as you have this year.

Thinking of them and silently wishing them well, whether or not you know them, is a way to spread nourishment to others, and we need that as a Global Community as much now as we ever did.

The following ritual is significant for those of us who want to reduce the time we spend comparing & grow the time we spend appreciating ourselves as we are.

As we do so, we can appreciate others more too.

RITUAL:
Consider the following Ritual a Sacred Pause in time to reflect on the gifts & difficulties of this year + create intentions for 2025.

If 2024 was hard, look for the gifts. When we reflect on our experiences openly, vulnerably & intentionally, our trials become our teachers.

PROCESS:
Put on inspiring music or cozy up next to a fire, light a candle, pour your favourite holiday beverage - or whatever creates a special moment for you.

Take out a journal or a loose piece of paper & write down:

✨ 3 Things I'm Grateful For from 2024 (even if it was hard then).
✨ 3 Things I Learned in 2024 + Never Want to Forget.
✨ 3 Things I'm Proud of Myself for in 2024.
✨ 3 Things I'm Ready To Release.
✨ 3 things I want to Remind Myself that are Important to Me as I move into 2025.

Once you've written them, reflect on these items.

✔️Appreciate what you've been through in 2024 and take that with you as you look ahead to 2025.

✔️ Now RIP this page out of your journal (if that's where you wrote) + put it into a "Time Capsule" - I used an envelope, wrote "2024" on the front + put it in an OBVIOUS place in my desk drawer where I'll see it most days.

✔️ Review this letter at the end of 2025. You'll be surprised at what you learn about yourself & have an opportunity to reflect.

✔️ If your intentions changed over the year, celebrate that as evidence that you listened to yourself.

Once you do this ritual tell me how it went.

Share your insights or ask questions - tag me on Facebook or DM me on Messenger, I love hearing from you.

Cheering you on into 2025,🔔

Foggy mountain road curving out of sight in an article by Tess René Coaching about how to stop catastrophizing and find calm in uncertainty.

A few weeks ago Reader, I was driving through the Rocky Mountains, one of those endless winding roads that seems to rise and fall with its own heartbeat. "When the road disappears, trust the next turn..." Fog rolled in suddenly, soft and thick, hiding every curve ahead. My shoulders tensed, my breath shortened, and I caught my mind whispering its old familiar stories:What if the road gets worse? What if I miss a turn? What if I can’t see what’s coming? That’s catastrophizing: when fear grabs...

It's so easy to put joy on hold, waiting for life to deliver the next big moment. You don’t have to wait for the big milestones to feel joy Reader. Promotions, holidays, falling in love… they’re wonderful, but fleeting. The truth? Joy isn’t an experience you sometimes get, it’s a way of being, an art you create. That’s why I fill my own days with micro-moments. One of my favourites is delightfully simple: balloons. Yes, balloons! I keep them around my home and office just to bat into the air....

Forgive this earlier-than-usual send Reader, but 2 of my clients asked if part 3 of this series could drop earlier. If they were feeling impatient you might be too, so let's go... Ever tried to logic your way out of panic? “...I know they’re probably just busy so why do I feel like I’m being rejected, judged or abandoned?” That’s the moment we hit the limit of what awareness or 'thinking' your way to a solution can reach. 🌿Welcome to Part Three of the Fear of Abandonment Series: We dive into...
